Fire Departments

Emergency Services

Our fire department also provides coverage 24 hours a day, every day. We are consistently manned by “shifts of five firefighters who collectively work to protect our quality of life through emergency response and prevention. Additional duties of the department also include building and fire inspections, to access and mitigate potential hazards.” -Lanier Dunn, Elberton City Manager-

Emergency Medical Responder Programs

Utilizing paid and volunteer responders from the City of Elberton Fire Department and Elbert County Sheriff’s office, to provide basic medical care to injured or sick persons in medical emergencies. Four fully equipped ambulances and two quick-response vehicles operate from its hospital base.

Emergency Management Agency

The Elbert County Emergency Management Agency keeps residents and businesses informed of emergencies and other time-sensitive information through CodeRED, a high-speed emergency notification solution provided by the Emergency Communications Network. Elbert County Emergency Services uses CodeRED to quickly and effectively keep the community informed of time-sensitive information that may impact the entire county, or specific neighborhoods. Elbert County EMA is responsible for maintaining disaster preparedness plans that include natural and man-made disasters, as well as, maintains a local emergency operations center that coordinates all agencies public safety operations during disaster to support continuity of operations within Elbert County, to include all cities. Elbert County EMA also operates the local dive team that responds to water related emergencies as well as recovery, and maintains a close working relationship with the Georgia Emergency Management Agency and Homeland Security office.
